When we said goodbye

For the final time

I told myself

It’s meant to be

It will come back”

 

So I let you go

And I waited

And waited

And I waited so long

That I fell in love

With someone else

And found something

That was more than

Empty promises

 

I found something

That was created from

The sun, the moon, the stars,

And the universe

And I no longer waited for you

But when you returned

I knew it wasn’t meant to be

See I had waited so long

I found a love

That would never leave.
